When You Attach Goals to Your Happiness

I am out of breath and the sweat is pouring down my face. I keep looking forward to the journey ahead while taking a look back at how far I have come every once in a while.
I get so focused on my goal that I sometimes forget to enjoy the scenery along the way.
Until I get to the top. THAT is when things become clear.

When I am sitting on top of a mountain, everything starts to make sense. In the still of the quiet moments, where I can only hear the wind through the trees and the breath that I take, the world jumps into perspective. The things I once thought were big, are small. The things once small, are big.
What is God teaching me? Our way of thinking changes as the pilgrimage goes on. Just like life. It makes me think that so many of us assign our happiness to future goals in life.

I’ll be happy when…
this happens
or that happens.
But, not until then.
You cannot attach happiness to your goals because they will always change once you reach that milestone.
You have to do the reverse.
Have gratitude now. Choose to be happy now. Open your eyes and see that everything is a miracle. Big, small or somewhere in between – be grateful now.
That’s what I have for today!

Thank you so much for reading today. I hope that I made you smile and think a little bit. To reach me, visit SALending.com
