The Heavy Burden

Why do we feel like we are obligated to carry such heavy burdens on our shoulders?

You know…the burdens of sickness and sadness that surround us. The affliction of all of the bad news that spews all over us every time we watch tv or go online. Yeah, those burdens. They are heavy, aren’t they?

We weren’t meant to carry the weight of all of this on our shoulders. We can’t. It is too much for us to bear. So why do we try?

God is standing right there next to all of us. He has His hands extended and He is patiently waiting for us to invite Him to take these heavy burdens off of our shoulders so that He can carry them for us.

He tells us that the cares, the sorrows, the heartaches and the worry – these heavy burdens that we pile on top of our frail shoulders – aren’t meant for us to carry. It is His job, if we will let it.

In Luke 10:21-24 NIV, Jesus says, “I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was well-pleasing in Your sight.

All things have been entrusted to Me by My Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him.

Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

All you need to do is keep remembering one important fact: In the end, we win. It is that simple.

We werent designed to carry the weight of this fallen world on our shoulders. It would cripple us. It already does for many people.

Give it to God and rest.

You cannot do this alone.
